Board of Directors Meeting

Saturday, May 10 at Machacek Library

Present: Pat Acquisto, Karen Clifford, Sara Davis, John Harris, Milton Murry, Tim Nowell, Greg Roggeman, Lisa Roggeman, Jenna Stout, Greg Todd, Jay Unnerstall

Apologies: Bret Narayan, Adam Rustige, Emily Yale

Guest: Gina Barrera

At the beginning of the meeting, the Board was joined by guest Gina Barrera of Studio Ivanhoe. Barrera discussed a proposed expansion of her current boutique pilates studio into the adjacent space. This would be an expanded mat studio. As the conditional use hearing is scheduled for the end of July, Barrera requested a letter of support from the LPNA to get a zoning hold waiver and allow for an earlier open date. The Board voted unanimously for the letter of support. Pat will write the letter.

Prospective new board member Jay Unnerstall joined the meeting. A motion was made by Tim to add Jay as a new board member. Milton seconded the motion, and all approved.

A motion was made to approve the Minutes from April 15, by Sara Davis, and seconded by Pat Acquisto.

Beautification:

  • Park: Emily is in communication with Kim at the Parks Department regarding the mulching and building ceiling condition. The latter was not in the original job specification, so it will be added to a “rainy day projects” list. Mulch will need to be ordered from a third-party vendor, so it will not be done before the first concert date. Lisa needs volunteers to move items out of the Park building. The date was set for May 20 at 6pm.
  • Community Garden & Wabash Garden: Milt reported that new beds have been built and a new compost bin through a collaborative project with Seed STL. Some old wood was salvaged for future projects. There is currently a waiting list of gardeners for beds.
  • Green Team: Tim noted that the next Green Team clean-up is scheduled for June 7. Tim will order 10 new picker-uppers for trash pick-up. Nick Kimble is checking into why the state has stopped the program for highway trash pick-up. Planters have been filled at the dead end on McCausland.

Communications:

  • John reported that the committee is focusing on pedestrian safety based on results from a recent A memo will be sent to elected officials and Streets. A walk-through is in the works to point out needs for pedestrians. Potential improvements: Portable signs for concerts; repainted crosswalks; road diet for Jamieson.

Block Captains:

  • The block captains are working to focus on how to be more useful.

Neighborhood Alliance:

Century Homes:

  • Jenna reported that the cost of stamps is costly for mailing postcards to eligible homes, so postcards will be reserved for new homeowners and newly eligible houses each year. Reminders for plaque sale sent to block captains. Planned marketing in the newsletter. Sale deadline is Monday, May 19.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Problems with PayPal letting Pat into the system. Greg will work on this issue. PayPal not showing individual payments. Information needed on PayPal fee.

  • Coffee shop in Park – Jordan Stretch will talk at the upcoming Board meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:00pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Jenna Stout
