Open House at the Park Building

Have you ever wondered what the inside of the park building looks like? You may have noticed that the outside of the office building in the park was recently renovated.  We waited a very long time for this to be done.  The windows were replaced, and the soffits, fascia and ceiling were also redone.  The roof was replaced a while ago too. The building is an historic building, so it had to be renovated according to historic recommendations.  The building belongs to the Park’s Department, but we, the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood Association (LPNA), have permission to store some of our items in it. Any time we’re doing something inside the building we’re always asked, “what is this building and what’s it used for?”

Well, here’s your chance to find out!  We will be holding a small “Open House” before the next Lindenwood Live, June 22nd at 5pm.  Come and have a look at the renovations and see what is inside the building.  We will also be launching a Membership Drive, so if you would like to join the Neighborhood Association (and I urge you to do so), you will be able to sign up or renew your membership.  Membership dues are a very low $15 per household per year and all dues go towards paying for our bands at Lindenwood Live, and help to fund LinFest, Trivia Night, Flea Market, the House Tour (new event coming up soon!), upkeep of the park, flowers and plants for the park and the planters on Ivanhoe Ave., various assistance of the community gardens, quarterly neighborhood meetings and so much more!

We are so fortunate to have an active neighborhood association and residents that love our neighborhood, so much so that one of our residents wrote a book about it!  Jay Unnerstall, local author, wrote a book about Lindenwood Park, called “America’s Great Neighborhoods – Lindenwood Park”, and he will also be at our Open House selling his book and chatting about it.  It’s very possible that you could twist his arm into signing a copy for you too!  He very kindly will be sharing profits from the sale of the book with the LPNA too, so that’s another way you can show your support.  If you’re unable to make the Open House or Lindenwood Live, you can purchase the book on our website at www.lindenwoodpark.org/shop, or you can sign up online to join the association at www.lindenwoodpark.org/join

The LPNA is totally run by volunteers who dedicate a TON of time and effort to our neighborhood.  $15 per year is a tiny price to pay for all the wonderful benefits of events provided.  Don’t worry, just because you join the association does not mean you are expected to volunteer! We don’t EXPECT anything from you – naturally we hugely appreciate any time you ARE able to volunteer. Like you, we are all busy with jobs, families and friends. The LPNA acts as a liaison between the city and the residents of Lindenwood Park.  We have zero “power” but could point you in the right direction if you have any issues.  Please consult our website for more information, www.lindenwoodpark.org.

We look forward to seeing you at our events!
