LPNA Board Meeting Minutes – 5/9/2022

Present: Pat Acquisto, Lisa Roggeman, Milton Murry, Greg Roggeman, Tim Nowell, Lindsay Alsop, Doug Dick, Carol Hofer, Adam Rustige, Emily Yale, Joe Vaccaro, Karen Clifford

Apologies: Emily Rogier, Gabe Gassner

 

Doug requested an amendment to the April 16, 2022, Minutes, requesting to change the number of apartments being built by Ranieri Construction from 85 to approximately 90 apartments. The Minutes from the Board Meeting held on April 16, 2022, were approved.  Motion made by Tim and 2nd by Adam.

 

Neighborhood Meeting: to be held at Watson Terrace Christian Church, June 6, at 7.30pm

  • Possible guest speaker: Scott Ogilvy – re bike paths/trails. No response to Pat’s request from him. Lindenwood Park Place owner is still awaiting permits and we will relook at him when he is closer to being completed. Pat to contact Cori Bush and/or Greg Daly.
  • LPNA Business.
  • Elected Officials & Karen Clifford.
  • LASM & Machacek Library.
  • Police Liaison Officer.

 

Alderman’s Report

  • Joe has approximately $450k in his budget. He hopes to complete the road paving from Pernod. Anyone who’d like to sit in on the budget meeting is welcome to do so, please contact Joe to confirm. This meeting will include people from various city departments. Contact Joe with suggestions re which street require paving.
  • Park building: clarification of what will happen to the park building is not clear.

 

Streets & Properties & NIS Report:

  • 65xx Hancock: The owners moved out yesterday (May 8th).
  • 69xx Hancock: The man living there was involved in the stabbing at 65xx Hancock. His sister lives there and told him to stay away.
  • 71xx Mardel: Daughter is in rehab. Someone changed the locks on the home. Will need a Power of Attorney for
  • 70xx Oleatha: Progressing slowly. Karen will follow up with owner.
  • 66xx Pernod: Still in probate. Grass was cut.
  • Trash: Karen will follow up and have street cleaning go through there again. Jamieson/Fyler was not cleaned.
  • 69xx Sutherland: Grandmother was sent to a hospice after a wellness check was done.
  • 69xx Oleatha: Junk yard. There’s a warrant for failure to appear in court.
  • Wabash/Winona: Junk yard. Karen will follow up.
  • Oleatha/Wabash: 2 dumpsters in the street. Karen to see if they have permits.

 

Committee Reports

 

Events:

  • Lindenwood Live!: Bands: secured the last band for September – Paul Bonn and the Bluesmen. Confirmed Fanfare in May, Proud Larry in June and Garden Party in August. All permits are completed, incl. Covid permit!  Carol will reimburse Tim $80 for one of the permits. Food trucks: have enough trucks but slow response.  Essentially Fries haven’t staffed their truck but if they do, we will accept them on short notice.  Raising Cane’s backed out of sponsoring Lindenwood Live.  Looking for sponsors – $500 per concert or $1,800 for all 4.  Pat will contact James Joyce.  Need help putting out signs.
  • Lawn & Garden: Gabe will once again chair the contest. Lisa will help. Gabe requested 3 gift cards to be purchased for best front yard, best back yard and most unique yard at $75 each.  Motion made by Emily Y, 2nd by Milton, and approved.  Need more judges.
  • Tweetup: May’s Tweetup will be held in-person at Edibles & Essentials on Tuesday May 24th.
  • LinFest: Emily is not here to report, but we currently have 4 artisans locked in. We received a sponsorship check from James Joyce for $1,000.  Food vendors confirmed: El Paisano and Biggies.  Knead and Blueprint Coffee are probably in – just waiting for paperwork.

 

Beautification:

  • Park Cleanup: Emily Y will pick up tools and wheelbarrow from Brightside. Aaron working with James Joyce to get pizza. Aaron has ordered mulch and will contact the schools to offer service hours. Pat’s nephew will purchase perennials. Signs are up around the park.
  • Community Garden: Compost will be delivered on 5/10 for the 4 new beds. New members are involved, and everyone has plenty of seeds. The sewers at Smiley/Leola are stopped up – Milt will report it.
  • Wabash Garden: Had a great amount of help from Luxco – people from all over the USA – spreading mulch. Irises are blooming.  Photos have been posted on social media.
  • Green Team: Next cleanup is scheduled for June 4th. Someone from 4 Seasons came out to look at the area needing cutting and quoted $60 per cut.  Will also pick up trash. Motion to approve the payment made by Milton and 2nd by Emily Y.

 

Communications

  • Next newsletter will go out on May 22. Will include Lindenwood Live, Tweetup, lawn and garden contest and Pat will send Greg something about Lindsay.

 

Membership:

  • Met with Lindsay and he sent Lisa the latest spreadsheet. Lisa dropped off the cheques Lindsay had (dues, LinFest, Lindenwood Live), including the big one from Regions Bank from when the account was closed, with Amy at Royal Banks and she will deposit them. Lisa has the key to the mailbox and will check it regularly, dropping off treasurer related docs at the bank for Carol. A membership meeting is planned with Greg, Carol and Emily R (who expressed interest in being on the committee) as soon as Emily is back from overseas. Also looking for 1 or 2 more people to join the membership committee and help brainstorm ideas for how to increase our membership and how to retain our members.

 

Treasurer:

  • Nothing to report as Carol was unable to connect to the Zoom meeting.

 

Safety:

  • Adam is battling to get hold of Vince to set up a new time to visit the Real Time Crime Center.

 

Century Homes:

  • 65 plaques have been sold in total. 10 plaques were sold for this quarter. The order will be ready early June.  Will expand to 1923 homes and do another driver closer to the holidays. Jenna will drop of some postcards with Pat for the welcome packs.  Yard signs have been ordered.

 

Old Business

  • Watson in the City signs: No separate invoice received yet. The signs will be added to the Lindenwood Park bill with the additional $70 for Watson in the City signs.

 

New Business

  • Nothing to report.
