City Residents Offered Free Firewood

The City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry will offer free firewood to City of St. Louis residents starting Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at three locations.  Two of these locations are new for 2016 and will make this resource more available to city residents.

  • Forest Park – Lower Muny Opera parking lot
  • Carondelet Park – Compost and Recycling location off Holly Hills Drive (new location)
  • O’Fallon Park –  North of Picnic Site #4 (new location)

All wood comes from the removal of dead or structurally damaged trees from City streets and parks. Wood is typically dropped off after 3 pm, Monday-Friday.  Daily wood supply is NOT guaranteed. The wood from tree maintenance operations will vary in size and species when left for City residents. Ash wood will not be available. It is offered on a first come, first served basis. This process ends during the first week in March, 2017.

Due to park restrictions, commercial vehicles and trailers are prohibited.
