Board of Director’s Meeting at Machacek Library
Saturday, August 13, 2022, 10am

Correction made to the Minutes from July 13th 2022: the amount voted on for the Wabash garden and Community garden should reflect $1424.88. The Minutes were then approved. Motion made by Tim, 2nd by Emily R.
Neighborhood Meeting: to be held at Watson Terrace Christian Church, September 12, at 7.30pm
- Possible guest speaker: Betherny Williams, Director of Streets or Capt. Michael Mueller.
- Lawn & Garden contest winners (3/4 winners have joined the association)
- LPNA Business.
- Elected Officials.
- LASM & Machacek Library.
- The church agreed to provide us with a cabinet to store coffee machine and supplies. Adam volunteered to provide real mugs (no Styrofoam/paper cups) and will take responsibility to wash them.
Alderman’s Report
- Tim has asked Joe if the city will treat the weeds in the median along Jamieson.
- Tattoo parlor will be opening on Watson, opposite LoRusso’s.
- Waubonsie Ridge Beef: City approved with our conditions and added a few extras.
- Chipotle: Failed to complete the A rating from Excise – no liquor or beer sales. No liquor license.
- New Police Captain is Captain Mueller in the 2nd New Police Liaison Officer is Officer Walker.
Committee Reports
Events:
- Meetup: August’s Meetup will be held at JJ Twigs on the patio.
- Lindenwood Live!: August’s turnout was smaller due to the heat factor. Band was great, sound was great. Several people were dancing and having a great time. September’s concert will be Paul Bonn and the Bluesmen. Trucks will be fewer. SumThyme a Vegan cancelled and quit the food truck industry. We will have Speedway, NY Tom’s, TreauX Cajun BBQ, Ice cream truck and Kettlecorn.
- LinFest: Committee meeting on 8/17. Waiting for 3 more vendors. Deadline is September 1st. Shelley will be helping to plot the map. Need volunteers. Pat to call the City re Ken Davis’s liability insurance.
- Volunteer Appreciation: October 8th @ 3pm at the park gazebo. Catering from Mom’s or Bubba’s – sandwich, chips, cookies.
Beautification:
- Park: Cleanup scheduled for September 24. Will mulch new trees, weed/clean beds at corners and in park. A couple of trees need pruning on Pernod & Prather sidewalks. Per Kim, the City has the playground equipment and it needs to be installed.
- Community Garden: Have some 8’ tomato plants! Sunflowers are in. Milt wants to try cauliflower over winter. GSA: Bonny Plants will give $1k prize for the biggest cabbage. 3rd graders will compete and grow cabbage in their bed. Picked up 4 free wheelbarrows from an alley.
- Wabash Garden: Have 4 bags of weeds. Sharon to provide a date and time to do weeding.
- Green Team: Next trash pickup is scheduled for September 3rd. Need more people. Waiting for invoice for June’s grass cutting. Grass is looking good but not cutting the street side against fence. Median is full of weeds.
- Adam’s House: Adam’s house will be featured in the Post-Dispatch on August 18th.
Communications
- Renewed SSL Certificate for secured website. Donated by Second Sight Therapeutic Massage. Bots have signed up on website and that needs cleaning up. Greg will ask Darran for an easy solution.
Membership:
- There are 201 current members as at 8/13/22. Lisa will form a committee and have a meeting to discuss the way forward as well as welcome packs
- Welcome packs: Lisa has a list of all inserts to be included. Joey DiFranco from DiFranco Realty provides the list of new sales. Lisa will consider asking James Joyce to provide this list going forward as Joey wasn’t happy with not getting any leads from us and was doing it as a favor to Walt Winters.
Safety:
- Had a committee meeting and decided to buy car clubs. 5 Star sells them for $15 at cost. Joe will reach out to car places to see if they will sponsor them. We will purchase 50 and make them available to the neighborhood. Motion made by Doug to spend $750 for 50 car clubs for resale. 2nd by Greg. Adam will email Pat who will ask Carol for a check.
Century Homes:
- Promote sales for the holidays. Will reach out to STL Realtors Association to buy gifts for new owners. Also reach out to block captains to promote. A house tour may generate interest.
Old Business
- Pat, Adam and Lisa met with the new 4th Ward neighborhoods from Dogtown area, consisting of: Franz Park, Hi-Pointe, Cheltenheim, Clayton/Tamm, Ellendale, Clifton Heights. They want to meet with our board to discuss how we do things. As a joint neighborhood group, we will hold the 1st Aldermanic debate at The Gathering church.
- The $500 originally donated to Ellendale for flood victims will be used to guy gift cards from Lowes. Pat will organize.
- T-shirts: Pat and Lisa will meet with Jack Biel to work on a new logo for LPNA.
New Business
- Ring Binder building is a problem property and condemned by the City. This is where Quik Trip wants to build.
- Karen Clifford: Greg Daly will hire her. If/when Joe wins the election, he will rehire Karen back as an assistant and she has agreed.
- Vince’s replacement is Officer Walker. We will purchase a gift certificate for Vince for $50 for Biggie’s.
- Problem Properties will revert to the committee.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11.53am.
