Committee Reports

Events:

  • Meetup: Most restaurants want exact numbers for attendance. Lisa will try and get an approximate number for future Meetups.  January’s Meetup will take place at Ari’s on Jan 24th from 6-8pm.
  • Flea Market: Lisa has emailed Timothy Lutheran to enquire about possible dates for a spring flea market. Waiting for the property manager to get back to her.
Tents: Timothy Lutheran borrowed our tents for the Christmas Market.  4 were destroyed due to weather conditions and one tent blew into an Ameren pole and took out power for the neighbors.  It was decided that if they want to borrow our tents again, they can only collect them the day of the event in order for them to be monitored at all times. Lisa informed Joe who will see if he’s able to replace them.  We currently have 26 tents.
  • House Tour: Louis Hills have been providing great information. We cannot do the tour on the first, second or last Sat/Sun of October. Possible options are Aug 20th, Aug 27th, Sept 17th.
  • Look at connecting Century Homes owners with the committee.
  • Pat will get a list of House Tours to give to Adam.
  • We would charge a ticket price and solicit sponsorship.

Beautification:

  • Park: The new playground equipment seems to be a success. Emily has asked for more trash cans.  Aaron will be buying plants for the Prather/Pernod garden.
  • Building: Light switch request has been made and Kim will send details to the electrician.
  • Community Garden: 3 beds are available. Garlic is coming up.
  • Wabash Garden: New bird houses and spread some compost. Picked up trash along the highway side.
  • Green Team: Milt and Sharon collected extra trash. The mattress was flipped over the fence and was collected.  Looking for a new grass cutting company to cut the triangle.  Tim will use vegetation killer on the island and weed killer along the fence line.

Communications

  • Greg Todd in the neighborhood contacted Greg R to offer help with making the system run faster. Greg R will meet with him to discuss the way forward.
  • Mail Chimp raised their price to $39.95/mth.

Membership:

  • 51 Welcome packs were delivered by 7 volunteers to new residents who purchased property in August, September and October 2022. None of the new residents have yet signed up to become members.  Next welcome pack delivery will be in February for Nov, Dec and January.
  • Currently have 230 members as at 1/9/2023 (up from 214 in Nov 2022). Every month Greg and Lisa will work through the lapsed members and as payments come in, they will be added to the system, allocated a password which will force them to change it when they try to log in again.

Safety:

  • 6 Clubs are available. Lisa will post to social media advertising them.

Century Homes:

  • The Christmas sale is complete, and 12 plaques were delivered. Will ask buyers to collect their plaques from a committee member going forward.

Block Captain’s:

  • Laurie & Eileen want to change the format of the meetings in the hope of getting more block captains to attend meetings.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Closing balance in December 2022 was $10,572.19.

Old Business

  • Board Candidates: Pat will contact John Harris. Wendy Barnes has agreed to join the Board.
  • Wabash Development: Walt Winters contacted the owners and they decided against proceeding with the project.

New Business

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8.27pm.

Respectfully submitted,
