Stakeholders of the Saint Louis Public School District are invited to weigh in on the District’s proposed SLPS Transformation Plan for regaining full accreditation. The proposed SLPS Transformation Plan was presented to the Special Administrative Board on March 13th as a draft, with the intention of gathering public feedback before asking the SAB to approve the plan at a future meeting.
SLPS Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams will host a pair of public forums to gather input from community stakeholders. The first public forum will be held at Vashon High School, 3035 Cass Avenue, on Thursday, March 27 from 6pm – 8pm. A second public forum will take place at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School on Saturday, March 29 from 10am – 12pm.
In addition to presenting the SLPS Transformation Plan at the public forums, Dr. Adams will share the proposed 2014-2015 school year budget, which has been crafted to support the SLPS Transformation Plan.
The SLPS Transformation Plan features five objectives:
1. Rigorous standards and monitoring student progress
2. Using data to improve instruction and decision-making
3. Expand capacity to develop, deliver, and supervise instruction
4. Shared vision of SLPS embraced by community and stakeholders
5. Ensure all SLPS preschool children are prepared for kindergarten
For those unable to attend the public forums, the power point presentation is available online at www.slps.org/presentation. Community members may also provide feedback through April 9 via the District website at www.slps.org/transformation. In addition, stakeholders may share their thoughts on the SLPS Transformation Plan via the District’s comment line at (314) 345-4636. All comments will be presented to the SAB prior to its April 10 meeting.
