New construction (next to post office): Tony Raineri has not confirmed a meeting with LPNA. Mary Hart Burton will hold off on zoning. This area/property will have to be re-zoned. The area seemed to be a “dump” area and old construction was found during an initial survey.
The Minutes from the Board Meeting held on July 14, 2021, were approved. Motion made by Lindsay and 2nd by Emily R.
Neighborhood Meeting – this will be a webinar to be held on September 13, 2021

Committee Reports
Alderman’s Report
Circle K:
- They will be closing on the house next door on December 1st. Pat will keep Kati in the loop.
Ballards on Jamieson:
- Nothing has been done yet so Joe will investigate. The City is looking for contractors to build the bump outs.
Mobil on the Run:
- Met with the managers. They have a full-time guard and will reconnect the real time crime cameras and bring them back online.
Greenlight Dispensary:
- Their management will meet with the LPNA Board at some time, and we will be able to put conditions on the property and ask questions. They will be cash/debit card only. All clients must have a doctor’s card. They are known to be a reputable company.
Chipotle:
- They want to apply for a liquor license despite their conditions saying they couldn’t. They have not done any landscaping. They are not in compliance with the conditions placed on them. Their sign is also not compliant.
Apartments on Clifton:
- This is a huge space with the possibility of 96 apartment (12 x 2 beds and the rest, 1 bed). Will be fenced, pool, 116 parking spaces, high end apartments, 2 ½ acres of property.
33 Frogs Sports Bar:
- Had a hearing but a new hearing will be held. They have already started with build-out inside.
Streets & Properties & NIS Report:
- 693x Sutherland: Court case next month (auction).
- 67xx Fyler: Tenants moved out and the house should sell for approx. $70k.
- 69xx Pernod: Work is progressing. Having a tough time getting building materials.
- 653x Hancock: Court case set for this month. House should be sold and may have to be torn down.
- 708x Oleatha: Permits are not being pulled. Karen has met with the owner.
- Lot next to 708x Oleatha: Lot is for sale and the grass is being cut by the owner.
- Weeds on Jamieson Median: Karen will look into it.
- Pickleball: This has been funded. Pat will email Joe any park updates.
- Cupcake Cartel: If a business is under certain square footage, it has the right to open.
- Snax: Pitstop BBQ will be moving in.
- Afandi Sweets & Café: (16th ward) has erratic hours.
- Stellina: Nothing happening.
Events:
- Tweetup: August 24th from 6pm-8pm at Biggies. This will be promoted via Facebook, Nextdoor, Twitter, our website and Joe’s e-blast.
- Lindenwood Live!: July’s concert went very well. Food trucks and Southside did well. Estimated 600-1000 people attended. Abigail’s truck broke Have had requests from other small businesses to sell at Lindenwood Live. Concert Committee will meet to decide on non-food vendors. No current sponsor for Sept 5th concert, but Emily R will look into $500 sponsorship. Sold out of flags – all reordered. Have new PayPal card reader (needs to be charged up).
- Lawn & Garden Contest: Winners are Kevin Sthair 4583 Wabash, for front yard (perfect score). There was a tie for the back yard winners: Patti Seagraves 6622 Pernod & Adam Sears 6602 Marquette. Unique garden winner was Dan Anson 6958 Fyler for his sunflower garden. Special mention goes to Machacek Library. An extra gift card will be purchased to cover the tied winners. Winners will be informed, photos of their gardens taken as well as the winners being presented with their awards, yard signs delivered, and winners published on the website and social media. Photos to be send to Pat for the membership meeting on Zoom and for the 2022 directory.
Beautification:
- Park: Ensure the park is ready for Lindenwood Live.
- Community Garden: Milton has donated over 100lbs of squash to the Activity Center on Arsenal. Beds are doing very well. Some produce is not being picked and going to waste. 1 bed needs minor repair. Have refurbished an 8’ bench and put it in the garden. Need compost.
- Wabash Garden: Garden needs to be weeded.
- Green Team: Adam will help with cutting the grass in triangle. Tim is getting bids from landscaper to cut on the State property.
- Ivanhoe Planters: Looking good.
Communications
- All info sent to Wendy re events and committees to be added to the tabs.
- The shop is working well.
- The host transferred the site to a new server so it should be working faster now.
Block Captain’s
- Next meeting will be via Zoom. Trying to organize a guess speaker.
Membership Report
- Have been getting new members, mostly generated from Lawn and Garden contest. Lisa to promote membership before the next membership meeting. Most people have joined online, and we had some renewals online.
- It’s welcome packet time and Karen will deliver them (approx. 100). Packs to include the safety magnet, Good Neighbor guide and Vince’s safety flyer. Directories available from Pat to be included in packs.
Safety Committee
- Will be hosting a BBQ for the 2nd District Police. More info coming.
- October is National Safety Month.
- Looking at doing something involving children, bike safety, lock it or lost it sign and campaign.
- There is a security guard present at Walgreens.
Century Homes:
- First order arrived and has been delivered to recipients. There will be a meeting to discuss the next order of plaques. Working on a new flyer to promote it.
