Board of Director’s Meeting at Epiphany

Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, 7pm

 

Present: Pat Acquisto, Lisa Roggeman, Milton Murry, Greg Roggeman, Tim Nowell, Adam Rustige, Jenna Stout, John Harris, Emily Yale, Brian Kolde

Apologies: Carol Hofer, Bret Narayan

Absent:

A motion was made to approve the Minutes from May 13th, 2023 by Emily and seconded by Tim.

 

Neighborhood Meeting: to be held at Watson Terrace Christian Church, September 11th at 7.30pm

  • Guest speakers: Betherny Williams, Director of Streets (Refuse, Lighting), or Brightside re recycling.
  • LASM & Machacek Library.
  • LPNA Business.
  • Elected Officials.

 

Alderman’s Report: (As per Bret’s email to Pat)

  • BB29: open carry permit – should pass on 7/20
  • BB84: Racial profiling
  • BB34: Narayan short term rental

 

NIS Report

  • Lansdowne: Tow truck parked long term – Brian will call the company and ask that they park elsewhere.
  • 6939 Sutherland: Eviction – mattresses dumped in alley. Refuse collected them quickly. The private dumpster was overfilled, and items spilled out. Brian called the company and asked that they return and clean it up.
  • 6401 Arthur: Dumping situation – now being cleaned by neighbors.
  • 6339 Arthur: Called Vector Control re mosquito breeding and debris.
  • Wabash Closure: Streets Dept. added detour signs and more info to the digital board.
  • 6938 Oleatha: Dumping on property. There is a warrant for the owner’s arrest.  The Building Inspector should be reciting him regularly.  He did appear in court and paid a $3,000 fine.
  • 6033 Mardel: Develop bought the property. The back door is unsecure, and the yard is overgrown.
  • 3600 Berger: Brian to see if the owner can be traced and cited for derelict building.

 

Election of Officers:

  • Pat will step down as President on December 31st, 2023.
  • Adam volunteered and was subsequently appointed by Pat to be Vice President. A motion was made by Emily and 2nd by Lisa and the vote was unanimous.
  • Possibilities for new Board members were made: Paul Dischert (Pat will follow up), Greg Todd (Greg R will follow up), Sara Davis (Lisa will follow up).

 

Conditional Use Permits

  • Personal Space Fitness: in the old White Front Auto building. Approved Conditional Usage.
  • Royals Liquor: NIS from Gravois area informed us of a drug deal in their parking lot in Boulevard Heights. Pat will add conditions re no flyer/ads on windows. They have agreed to all our conditions and Pat sent the letter.

 

Committee Reports

 

Events:

  • Meetup: Meetup will take place at Babe’s on the patio on July 25th, from 6-8pm, with food from local restaurants.
  • Lawn & Garden contest: winners are 6600 Winona – front yard, 6628 Marquette – back yard, 6986 Mardel – container. Miriam will be making a video of the gardens and has a $100 gift certificate from Grow Gear.  Looking for 2 more gift certificates.
  • Lindenwood Live: Refunded The Crooked Boot for August as they were not happy with so many trucks. They will attend in September. August and September will have 6 savory and 1 dessert truck. Tim will be away the week before the August concert but will have a Plan A & B ready in case of flight delays. Porta Potties are reserved and will be locked prior to the concert. Pat will ask Kim for 5 trash cans.
  • Trivia: 18 tables sold so far, 7 sponsors, lots of raffles/silent auction items.
  • Flea Market: 18 tables sold, $1,053.35 income, $237.87 expenses, $815.48 profit.

 

Beautification:

  • Park: No reply from Kim re fountains at the hockey rink (broken) and ballpark area. Mary Berg bought plants for Pernod & Prather garden and was reimbursed.
  • Community Garden: All beds taken and producing well. Milt has been giving veg to the 5 Star Senior Center.
  • Wabash Garden: Gone beyond our scope and letting it go for a while.
  • Green Team: Next trash pickup is on Sept 9th.  Grass cutter is doing well, and payments are on time. Weed killer used on the median is not working. Tim will weed whack it and buy vegetation killer.  We’ve had better attendance this year from volunteers.
  • Aaron Dohogne: Flyers have been made up and Aaron is looking for volunteers to deliver them. Tim offered to help.  This is info on how to care for the trees given to local residents.

 

Communications

  • New website host: Hot Lava provides hosting for $59/mth, SSL included, and they will migrate us for free. Need to pay via monthly credit card or annual invoice. Currently paying $127/yr. Second Sight will continue to sponsor.  A motion was made to allow Greg to spend up to $1,000/yr.  Motion by Adam and 2nd by Emily.
  • Greg will email Wendy re the donate button to include trivia payment.

 

Membership:

  • Welcome packs will go out in August. Still waiting for Bret to provide a flyer/intro to the 4th
  • Currently have 263 paid-up members – up from 245 in May. Posted a promotion on social media.

 

Safety:

  • Adam will schedule a meeting and invite Tom Scheifler from STL Hills.
  • No clubs sold recently. Lisa to promote on social media.

 

Block Captain’s:

  • Paul Dischert shared what he does with his block (walks to Ted Drewes, block party etc.)

 

Century Homes:

  • Need new postcards and will add extras for welcome packs. Adam will give Jenna some stamps. Deadline is October 31st.

 

Old Business

  • Nothing to report.

 

New Business

  • BB60: Liquor license not requiring Plat for restaurants if mostly serving food. The majority of the Board is against this.  The burden will be on the residents and not on the businesses.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9.03pm.
