Neighborhood Meeting

Due to COVID-19 and the current “shelter in place” order, it was decided that an in-person meeting would not be viable.  Currently we cannot have groups of more than 10 together.  It was decided that we would schedule a Zoom meeting that residents could participate in.  Pat will contact Vince, Joe, Tom, Donna, Katie and Molly and ask if they could participate.  Pat will schedule the Zoom meeting and write up an article to be sent to Greg to put on the website.  Greg will create the website link and forward it to key people who will share it on Nextdoor, Facebook, Twitter and to Emily R who will send to the Block Captains.  Greg will also send out an email via the newsletter to all members.  Lindsay will call those who don’t have email addresses.

Committee Reports

Block Captain Report

  • Nothing to report.

Streets & Properties:

  • 7080 Oleatha’s owner, Joan Miller has bought the house with the intention to live in it and has been working on cutting down the foliage in the front. Karen will be arranging a dumpster for the owner to load debris. She is planning to tear down the porch and other exterior damage/rotted wood and trim as well as remove several trees. She is in possession of the Violation letters issued to the previous owner and has good intentions on correcting them as she would like to restore the house to its original Victorian specifications.
  • Jamieson Church: The building has been cleared out and Karen has logged a call to have the sofa removed that is on the tree lawn. There are currently no violations attached to the building and no buyer has approached the realtor.

Events:

  • Flea Market: Flea Market was cancelled due to COVID-19 as we could not social distance and there would be more than 10 people in the building. It will be rescheduled for 2021.  All refunds to vendors have been completed.
  • LinFest: LinFest has been cancelled due to COVID-19 in order to keep people safe and comply with City orders. Refunds to sponsors have been completed. The Billboard refund is pending, and Lindsay will check to see if Raising Cane’s has sent money in for sponsorship and refund if necessary.
  • Lindenwood Live: May’s concert was cancelled due to COVID-19. We will wait and see what regulations the City imposes for June as to whether we will cancel the June concert.  Greg has contacted the food trucks to give them a heads up and Tim has contacted the band Garden Party and will confirm closer to the date.  The contract with the band has not been signed yet.  Murray’s Shaved Ice will not be participating this year as they will not be using their truck for any events.   They have also not sent us a check for last year’s event.  Pat to follow up on that. Things we are considering are: can we social distance, will everyone be expected to wear masks, what does the Park’s Dept. require, do we designate certain areas etc.
  • Trivia: Trivia will be cancelled due to COVID-19. It will be too difficult to impose social distancing, obtain sponsorship and prizes.
  • Tweetup: Tweetup’s are cancelled until further notice. Lisa will look into hosting a Zoom Happy Hour.

Beautification:

  • Park: Park cleanup will been rescheduled for Fall. Emily Y did a solo cleanup and got many bags of trash and collected downed limbs.  Once the tennis courts and skating rink re-open (scheduled for June 18th) they will be cleaned. There are 2 children who need service hours and they can assist with pulling weeds and cleaning the tennis courts and skating rink. The Pavilion has been cleaned and swept too.  Craig ordered mulch and has spread it in the rose garden.
  • Green Team: The next highway cleanup is scheduled for June 6th. As there is plenty of opportunity to social distance, we will continue with this event.  The grass is currently about 2’ high so Tim will contact MODOT and the City to see when this can be cut.
  • Community Garden: Gardens are blooming, and lettuce is already being picked and the grass has been cut. There is a tiller for tilling the beds, toolboxes have been installed and the beds were composted. Karen will investigate having a camera installed at the garden (6520 Arsenal) and at the Wabash garden.
  • Wabash Garden: The weeding is on-going. The irises are blooming.  There is a need for more mulch to combat the weeds and it was agreed that LPNA would pay for it to be delivered.  The City has trimmed around the guard rails, but the honeysuckle is coming back.  Mary Ann will liaise with Milt regarding attacking it with white vinegar and salt.  Milt is cleaning up the wren boxes.  Doug complimented Milt and Sharon on the outstanding job they have done with the Wabash garden by labeling the plants and removing the honeysuckle.
  • Ivanhoe Planters: Milt has cleared all the rye from the planters and composted and fertilized them. Tom Acquisto will plant some canna’s and Pat will purchase the necessary plants for the planters.

Membership Report

  • Welcome packs will be ready to be delivered soon. Karen has offered to assist with delivering them and we will add her business card to them.

Treasurer’s Report

  • No funds are coming in. We cashed in a CD from Citizen’s Bank.  Financially we are in good shape, but we are currently down in numbers.  We will make an effort to encourage neighbors to join the association at the next Neighborhood Meeting.

Safety

  • Nothing to report.

Old Business

  • Circle K: Nothing new to report on the expansion since their proposal at the January Neighborhood Meeting. They have changed over all their gas pumps.
  • Chipotle: All were in favor of the business opening up in the old Regions Bank building, corner of Pernod and Hampton. They have added an additional exit to the street in their plans. They have been proactive with informing the neighbors about the changes and they are aware of the plans.  No letter has been sent yet.

New Business

  • Flags: Pat is aware of a screen-printing business keen to print neighborhood flags.  The flags will mimic the pole banners.  They will give us a percentage of the sales and take responsibility for the distribution and sale of them.
  • Hot Lava: They have not yet been paid for the license of the software renewal.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Lisa Roggeman
