Committee Reports

Events:

  • Meetup: Meetup will take place at Pietro’s on the patio on May 23rd, from 6-8pm. Lisa asked for suggestions of bars/restaurants in the 4th Ward near Lindenwood Park: Heavy Riff, Failoni’s, Michael’s, Felix’s, Tamm Ave. Bar, Golden Hoosier’s Bar were all suggested. We are missing Joe’s e-blast to advertise events.
  • Flea Market: Sold 16 tables so far + 6 for LPNA =22 total. Waiting for a few more applications to come in.  Could use a few more volunteers for Friday evening set up and Saturday afternoon tear down.  Waiting for Rev. Carl to confirm times we can access the building. Items not sold will be taken to the park building for distribution to a charity or two.
  • Lindenwood Live: 7-8 food trucks organized for each concert. Waiting for payment from Southside Wine. Abigail’s will be at 2 concerts. Tim has organized letters to residents on Pernod, barriers, signs etc.  Mark Klose will advertise the concert on KSHE. Pat will do a flyer and send it to Mark to advertise.  The September band will be Kent Erhardt & the Blue Moon Blues band.  Lisa, Greg and Adam will man the LPNA booth. Adam will ask Amy to make a flyer listing all concerts again.
  • Lawn & Garden Contest: Miriam Moynihan will chair it. Greg will ensure the email address is forwarded to her.
  • House Tour: This will not happen this year as there is not enough time to organize it. There were concerns that this will be a major event the same year as LinFest. Will this affect our big sponsors.  It was agreed to continue with LinFest in 2024 and that the House Tour will be scheduled for 2025.  The kickoff for the House Tour will happen at LinFest.
  • Trivia: Battling to find a location. Waiting to hear from Timothy Lutheran, 2nd choice is Epiphany, 3rd choice is Watson Terrace Christian Church.

Beautification:

  • Park: Emily emailed Kim re things we’re waiting for, especially water fountains to be turned on. Kim said the comfort stations (bathrooms) are done, next would be swimming pools, then water fountains. Kim would have to check on the status of the building repairs.  Construction plans are complete. Tennis courts and Roller rink won’t happen until late Fall.
  • Park Cleanup: Aaron will be running it as Emily is unable to attend. Corner bed at Prather/Pernod has been planted with 60 native plants with help on a neighbor and volunteers. We will be mulching trees, weeding, trash pickup. Will get mulch from City Forestry.  Pat will get flowers from her nephew who will provide a cost for perennials.  Tools will be borrowed from Brightside.
  • Community Garden: Received a 42” round planter box. The plan is to grow veggies and donate them to a food pantry. Battling to find compost that is needed for the 3rd bin and planters. Pat will ask her nephew about getting compost.  Will need 2-3 cubic yards.  Gardens look great.  All beds are accounted for.
  • Wabash Garden: Irises are nearly done flowering. Have weeded and have 10 bags of weeds that were collected. Have a new volunteer neighbor from Laos who will help with weeding.
  • Green Team: Next trash pickup is on June 3rd.  Have a new lawn company cutting the triangle: Craig Duffy from 1st Alarm Lawn & Home, who will cut the grass every 11-12 days.  $100 for the first cut, $75 per cut thereafter.
