Aldermanic Report (Bret not in attendance):
Adam read an aldermanic update sent by Bret with the following points:
- Amendment to BB114: Does not allow for congregate shelters to be placed in Zones A and B, which cover the majority of the ward; will help alleviate the concerns regarding shelters in neighborhoods.
- Work with SLMPD on surveillance technologies to combat and prosecute crime, ensure that they are within legal parameters
- The Short Term Rental (STR) portal is now open on the City website, so individuals can lodge complaints against problematic STRs. Also, any STRs in single family A zones will need to go through the conditional use process in the coming months in order to get proper permits to operate.
The Board expressed concerns over tracking of STRs and enforcement. Adam will follow up with Bret with these issues and approach the Building Division to have a representative speak at the next Board meeting.
NIS Report:
Karen Clifford (acting director of NIS) gave the following report on problem properties:
- 70xx Oleatha – overgrown property, has been cleaned up recently.
- 69xx Oleatha– hoarder property with junk in yard. Working with the Health Department to get a court order for the City to remove items.
- 37xx Jamieson – assisted living facility with exterior building code issues and yellow caution tape; dumpster is now located on street.
- Lansdowne & Walbash intersection – social media complaints on backed up traffic. Karen videotaped the traffic issues and has been working to get the lights synced up / adjusted to fix the problem.
Karen is compiling a list of sidewalk issues. She will also be getting a list of streets that are scheduled to be paved in the spring. The Board discussed some ongoing tree maintenance issues, including a sycamore on Lindenwood Place.
