Committee Reports

Streets & Properties:

  • 6609 Marquette: The police were called regarding several incidents related to the property as it is listed as a problem property. People were living in the garage. A court hearing is scheduled for November 16th.  Matthew Parr’s hearing in October was postponed to reconsider the plea. It will be a virtual hearing.  Karen to find out the Zoom info and see if observes can attend.
  • Anmar Photography: Still in probate.
  • 6033 Mardel: vacant
  • Hucks: 3 properties in the neighborhood have ties to Hucks. Hucks will be served a soft C&D.
  • Karen is working on liens, getting bagged leaves picked up and ensuring that a lot of cease and desist letters are being issued. She will ask on Facebook for people to advise her of any vacant buildings in the neighborhood.

Events:

  • Tweetup: November 24th from 6pm-8pm via Zoom. This will be promoted via Facebook, Nextdoor, Twitter, our website and Joe’s e-blast.  Take out from Edibles and Essentials is recommended.  This will be the last Tweetup for the year.
  • Holiday Lighting Contest: Jorie Schuckman will run with this contest again. No prizes are awarded.  Winners with the most votes get a sign in their yard.
  • LinFest: Due to various situations it was decided to postpone LinFest to 2022.

Beautification:

  • Park: Nothing to report.
  • Green Team: Had a smaller turn out at the last clean up. MODOT collected all the trash bags. We still need the Lindenwood Park sign moved to the Jamieson exit.  Clean up times will be reduced to 9am – 11am.
  • Community Garden: Great growing season. Some produce was shared with a food pantry.  Repairs and tidying have been done at the Senior Center on Arsenal.  There will be some raised beds available for next year.
  • Wabash Garden: Irises have been split and the area expanded.
  • Ivanhoe Planters: Compost, fertilizer and rye has been added to most of the planters.

Communications

  • The website is running well. Updates for secondary issues have been completed.  We need to add an online store and Greg will contact Darren and Larry to quote us on that.  There is an email issue relating to receiving email on an iPhone.  Call Greg if you are having an error message pop up and he will walk you through resetting it.

Block Captain Report

  • All meetings in 2021 will be virtual.

Membership Report

  • Lindsay to send Pat a list of labels to be printed. 80 Welcome packs are ready to go out and Karen will assist with delivery.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Lindsay opened a money market account and deposited $20,000 into it. The Billboard for LinFest sponsorship has still not been repaid.

Safety Committee

  • 6 people attended the 1st Zoom meeting. A plan will be developed. Hoping to get 10 people on the committee.  Vince will be asked if he could join the committee and offer advice.  Will possibly look for a safety expert to join it too.

Old Business

  • Century Homes: Found a vendor to produce the plaques for our price. Found some homeowners with 100-year old houses. LPNA will pay initially for plaques (approx. $1,000) and get money back when homeowners buy the plaques.
  • Flags: 30 flags were ordered, 22 have been sold so far. Jack would like to hand over the sales and promotions to LPNA and just do the printing for us. We will wait to promote it until we have an online store.  Adam and Karen have offered to deliver flags when they are ready.
  • All Committee Chair’s to email Pat a list of their event dates for 2021.

New Business

  • Karen has a new cat!
  • HCBA News: The Kirkwood Chamber of Commerce recently did a fundraiser where they flock yards with flamingoes and remove them – they raised over $15,000. It was decided that we would not entertain this at this time.
  • HCBA News: Tom Oldenburg will be conducting a traffic study on Hampton at Gravois.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Lisa Roggeman
