Park, Trash & Trees – Aaron Dohogne

On April 23rd there will be a Trash for Charity event sponsored by Pietro’s.  The person who collects the most trash will receive a gift card from Pietro’s.  This is scheduled for the day after Earth Day.  The charity being supported is Ronald McDonald House. For each person who attends and helps pick up trash, Pietro’s agrees to give $10 to Ronald McDonald House, up to a maximum of $500. The previous Trash for Charity event supported Cardinal Glennon.

There are currently 244 trees in Lindenwood Park. Aaron is looking into generating a map of what trees we have, and where they are located.  4 new trees were planted – 2 White Oak and 2 Burr Oak.  They will need to be watered in the spring and summer, approximately 10 gallons per week.

There are some trees at Chippewa/Lansdowne (near Metrolink) that will be mulched on Sunday Feb 27th between 10-12pm.

The sweetgum tree near the gazebo is not in good shape.  Emily Y has asked Alan Jankowski to have it removed.

Spring Park Cleanup will be on May 14th and the scheduled Board meeting will move to a Wednesday night on May 18th.  Pat to book Epiphany room.

The Minutes from the Board Meeting held on November 13, 2021, were approved.  Motion made by Tim and 2nd by Lindsay.

Neighborhood Meeting

  • Possible guest speakers: Home Sweet Home, Mayor Tishaura Jones, Spire – re digging up the city and what are their plans.
  • LPNA Business.
  • Elected Officials & Karen Clifford.
  • LASM & Machacek Library.
  • Police Liaison – Vince Stehlin.

Alderman’s Report

  • Joe sent out his budget report on e-blast. Not everyone received it so Pat will re-send it.
  • Crime: Car theft on Arthur – kids stole the car and were caught. Spoke to Cpt. Marks about it and requested more patrols. Looks like the kids will get off.
  • Permits: Fyler/Jamieson – someone bought the building. They want to tear it down and build small office/retail space but ran into some problems with the City.
  • Permits: Lindenwood Park Place: Jeff Scally is ready to go ahead. It is zoned for residential use, and we will relook at the conditions.  It will be for private members only who will pay an annual fee to rent the rooms.  Conditions are for trash, signage, lighting, landscaping.
  • Permits: Raineri Development: They have still not spoken with us. They are ready for Joe to sign off on it, but he won’t until they speak with LPNA.  Their deadline is in April 2022.
  • Snax: Someone wanted to develop it (possibly a Thai restaurant). City denied it and they haven’t yet appealed.
  • Stellina: Will be a specialized fitness business.
  • F&B’s: Will be an ethnic restaurant. Someone is working on the property.  No conditional use necessary as it is already a restaurant.

Committee Reports

Events:

  • Events Committee Meeting: Had a meeting and all dates for events were finalized for Trivia, LinFest, concerts, volunteer appreciation day (June 15, BBQ in the park).
  • Tweetup: January’s Tweetup will be held by Zoom due to increasing Covid cases, on January 25th from 6pm-8pm. Restaurant to be decided.
  • LinFest: Scheduled first committee meeting for Feb 2nd by Zoom. Raising Cane’s are still interested in sponsoring in 2022. Most committee members are still on board.
  • Holiday Lighting: Signs went missing so Pat bought several new ones. Approval was given for reimbursement.  Rachel Morgan ran it this year and there were 3 winners and 1 business mention.  She is happy to continue doing it this year, as were all her volunteer helpers.
  • Lindenwood Live!: Tim will make contact with bands and will send out links of possibilities to the concert committee and will get the permits ready.

Block Captain’s

  • First meeting of the year was held on Zoom. Had a great turnout with 20 people participating.
  • Signs are working and will be randomly placed, advertising for new block captains.
  • Next meeting is in April.

Beautification:

  • Park: Spring cleanup is scheduled for May 14th. Fall cleanup will be scheduled for September 24th.  Emily Y finally received a response from Kim Haegele – playground surface and building work was approved and it is at the pricing stage for work to be done in Spring.  Building project has been turned over to BPS.  Someone was scoping the sewer system for MSD, awaiting report. The City only has one electrician who has a broken foot so no news on the electrical issues in the building.  There are no lights in the meeting room, and we would like a switch installed there.  Outlets need weatherproof covers.  Pickleball is still not yet approved, and Kim said there is no budget for it.  Emily Y to email Joe about Pickleball as he said he would move money around to get it approved.
  • Community Garden: Lots of dill still available. Looking at a joint venture with Southwest Baptist to assist them with adding new beds to their garden.  Milt has seeds available for the gardeners.
  • Wabash Garden: Would like a gate installed for easy access to clean up the area and collect trash.
  • Green Team: Shane Elliott will cut the grass in the triangle next year.  Tim will ask Karen if she has a contact at MODOT re installing a gate at Wabash garden.
  • Ivanhoe Planters: Nothing to report.

Communications

  • Greg will ask with Larry/Darran @ Hot Lava if invoices can be paid by PayPal.
  • QR code and yard signs for the #9pmRoutine for the collaboration with Princeton Heights, St. Louis Hills and Lindenwood Park is on-going.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Lindsay sent out the 4th Qtr report. Membership dues look inflated due to not being transferred at the end of the 3rd
  • Lindsay experienced identity theft on his personal account. They were able to see the LPNA account too.  He was alerted and no money was taken from the LPNA account.  Suspect inside involvement because the LPNA account is not linked in any way to Lindsay’s personal account.
  • Pat will ask Carol if she would be interested in taking over the Treasurer position.
  • LPNA bank accounts will be moved from Regions to Royal Bank.

Membership:

  • We have 325 members of which 90 are unpaid, leaving 235 paid up. Greg has sent an email reminder to all 90 unpaid members and 60 have opened the email.
  • Greg to speak to Darran re adding a 2-year reminder for those who’ve paid for 2 years.

Safety:

  • Still working on QR code and postcards. It will cost $600 for 5,000 postcards to be mailed and 75-yard signs for Lindenwood Park residents. Greenlight Dispensary has donated $1,000.  Motion granted to approve $600 by Tim and 2nd by Gabe.
  • Need more committee members.

Old Business

  • Lindsay is resigning as treasurer, membership chair and the Board after 35 years of volunteering.
  • Lisa will chair and form a committee for membership.
  • Pat will ask Carol if she would be interested in being treasurer.
  • New possible board members: Shawn McLain, Sean Rapp, Jenna Stout, Shelley Hammon. Pat will contact them.

Streets & Properties & NIS Report:

  • 71xx Mardel: Owner’s daughter has Covid, and Karen is trying to get her moved into a home. The house should be sold soon.  It is in a bad state.
  • Fyler/Jamieson: This is the old Anmar Photography Studio. Building has sold.  They want to tear it down and build 3 small office/retail stores.
  • 69xx Sutherland: Will do a wellness check. Granddaughter has power of attorney.  Sent C&D which was returned as undeliverable.
  • 70xx Lansdowne: Complaints by neighbors. Meeting will be scheduled with the owners and C&D issued.
  • Casey Paige: C&D will be issued, re property issues. Will be meeting next week with them.
  • 65xx Hancock: Problems are on-going.  Police are not attentive to 911 calls made on the property.  Suspect drug deals are on-going.  Resident is harassing the neighbor who has a protective order against him. There are fumes and smells from the property.  Sandra from the prosecutor’s office seems more concerned with the resident than with the complaints from the neighbors.  House has rats.  Karen will put in a request with the health dept. to inspect it.
  • Refuse: roll out carts: Monday – solid trash, Thursday – recycle, Wednesday – yard waste (suspended until March).  Dumpsters, no recycling at this stage.

New Business

  • Elections of Board Members: non-officers will be renominated and re-elected every year at the March Neighborhood Meeting.
  • 2022 Directory: Will be available in February and mailed out to all Lindenwood Park residents.
  • Sponsorship: Beth-Ann Reichman Bennett asked for sponsorship for Nottingham School for educational assistance. This is not in our neighborhood.  It was agreed not to pursue it at this time.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9.30pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Lisa Roggeman
