The Minutes from February 13, 2021 were approved. Motion made by Lindsay and 2nd by Adam.
Neighborhood Meeting – this will be a webinar to be held on June 7, 2021

Committee Reports
Alderman’s Report
Circle K:
- The house next door to Circle K was rezoned. Construction could start some time after May 5th, but probably in June.
- A copy of the conditional use letter will be sent to Kati Guerra who asked to be kept apprised of the project.
- Conditions: no outside dining (picnic tables), no alcohol (can’t apply for liquor), security cameras installed, no “rolling papers”/glass tube roses, no drugs or paraphernalia. Parking lot, grounds and pumps need to be cleaned and free of litter – including regular power wash. No overnight parking except for employees on duty. No trailer or trucks parked there. No deliveries, trash pickup, fuel deliveries between 11pm – 6am.
Mobil On The Run:
- Send letter to Leroy Grant stating that they are not sticking to their original agreed upon conditions.
23rd Ward Budget:
- Should be available in 3-4 weeks.
- Want to make all intersections handicap accessible, including beeping signals and visual countdown.
- Need concrete bump outs to replace the bollards at Fyler/Jamieson. Pat to send Joe an email about putting the knocked down bollards back up temporarily.
- Will ask for $150k for new playground equipment in the park. Need money allocated for paving, alleys, side roads and neighborhood watch signs.
Beautification:
- Park: Money from last year was allocated to the playground for new flooring and mulch. Kim Haegele said the projects have to be approved by the Park Committee, but this was already approved in 2020 and a contractor needs to be sourced. Emily Y and Joe to follow up. Bathrooms throughout the city parks are slowly being opened up by 2 plumbers. Sewer line still needs to be inspected.
- Park Cleanup: Scheduled for May 8th, 9am – 12pm. Lindsay has ordered mulch and will buy 10 trays of annuals the day before. Preen needs to be placed on beds by tennis courts to help eradicate weeds. Emily has called schools to see if any students require service hours. The park cleanup signs are in the park and Emily will ask Tim to help placing them. Greg to post to website, newsletter, and Twitter. Lisa to post to Facebook and Nextdoor.
- Pickleball Court: Nothing to report.
- Green Team: Scheduled for Saturday April 17th from 9am – 11am. Lisa will post to social media. Greg will post to website.
- Community Garden: All beds are taken and there is a long waiting list. Not considering increasing the cost as “sweat equity” is required, ie. cutting grass, watering, weeding etc.
- Wabash Garden: Mulch is mostly spread. Plants are growing and blooming. Milton to advise the board when help is needed.
- Ivanhoe Planters: Nothing to report.
Events:
- Tweetup: April 27th from 6pm-8pm via Zoom. This will be promoted via Facebook, Nextdoor, Twitter, our website and Joe’s e-blast. Take out from El Paisano is recommended.
- Lindenwood Live!: Committee has still not met. It was agreed that the May concert would be cancelled. Permits are still not available. The June concert is pending, depending on advice given by the City and the Health Dept.
- Lawn & Garden Contest: Doug asked if someone else would like to take over the project. Gabe will chair it, Lisa and Emily Y will form the committee. It was decided that winners DO have to be LPNA members in order to win. There will be 1 front yard winner and 1 back yard winner and possibly a business winner. The committee will meet to discuss the structure. Prizes will be sourced from garden type stores and signs will be placed in the winners’ yards.
Communications
- The website is up to date.
- The shop is nearly ready to go live. Pat will retake photos of the t-shirts. Greg will send them to Darran and communicate when it is live.
Block Captain Report
- Emily R and Patti communicated with all Block Captains to see if anyone wanted to resign and to confirm the level of commitment. We lost a few but gained a new one. Greg has updated the website with the new info.
Membership Report
- Lindsey will forward the potential marketing letter to the Board, to be discussed at the next meeting.
- It was suggested that we have yard signs made for the 4 corners of the park and the playground promoting membership of LPNA. Pat will look into the cost.
Financial Report:
- 3rd Quarter statements were expertly produced by Lindsay. QuickBooks is no longer a viable option and other options are not free.
- Outfront Media has still not refunded us for the LinFest advertising. Pat will ask Sean Rapp to send them a legal letter.
Safety Committee
- Safety Week will be May 23 – 29. 7 different topics will be promoted each day (1 per day).
- Adam will contact Greg and Lisa re promoting it on social media and the website.
- Joe has purchased magnets with safety tips on them. These will be mailed out during Safety Week to current LPNA members and will also be free to distribute at events.
Century Homes:
- Wendy has the page ready to go live on the website.
- Greg will contact Darran re the shop and coordinate with Wendy on how purchases will be made.
- Over 520 letters are ready to go out to homeowners with houses over 100 years old.
- Cost is $60 to LPNA members and $75 to non-members.
Streets & Properties:
- 693x Sutherland: House was condemned for occupancy. It has a C&D and is currently 3 years behind with taxes.
- 694x Sutherland: Up for City auction in September 2021. Domestic related & drug activity.
- 65xx Hancock: Will have meeting with owners and neighbors. Ties to Hucks and drug activity.
- 67xx Fyler: Timothy Lutheran are the owners. The renter is a scrap metal collector and there are people living in the back yard. They are in violation of the lease agreement and the church wants the city to intervene.
- 69xx Pernod: Property was sold to NT Home Solutions LLC, located at 7065 Sutherland. Work is progressing.
- 70xx Oleatha: Progressing slowly. They did not have permits and can’t continue until they have them.
- 32xx Ivanhoe: Green Grow has a sign in the window that they are open for business. Joe to investigate. It’s still not clear is they have an occupancy permit.
- 66xx Marquette: Property was sold – asking price was $120K. Suspect a rehab company bought it.
- Potholes: Streets are working slowly on repairing the roads.
- Sidewalks: Repairs have started. There is a very bad area at Adams Furnace that urgently needs repairing.
- 5G Antennas: We would like to see a map of where all the 5G antennas will be installed. Joe will investigate.
New Business
