Better Business Bureau (BBB) invites high school juniors who will graduate in 2015 to apply for its Student of Ethics award, a $2,500 college award that recognizes students who demonstrate high ethics through leadership, community service, personal integrity and academic achievement.
Three awards will be presented at BBB’s TORCH Award luncheon in the fall. Charter Communications, Brown Shoe and Schnuck Markets sponsor the Student of Ethics Awards.
Applicants who reside in any of the 92 counties in Missouri and Illinois served by St. Louis BBB may submit their entries online through the BBB website. In addition to an entry form, students must upload a high school transcript, a letter of recommendation and a 300-word essay describing the process by which he or she confronted an ethical dilemma and made a decision. A new online form allows applicants to upload all components of their entries.
A panel of independent judges will choose three winners, considering each student’s leadership qualities, academic performance, character and essay. Each will receive a $2,500 award to be used at an accredited college of the student’s choice.
Applications are due by May 30, 2014. More information is available online or by calling Chris Thetford, BBB Director of Communications, at 314-645-3300.
